Abstract
In this research spaonification reaction of ethyl acetate and sodium hydrooxide is carried out and the effect of agitation on the reaction rate is also studied. The reaction was carried out in batch apparatus and the electrical conductivity of the reaction is measured with time. Agitation is provided with the help of magnetic stirrer. The initial concentrations of the reactants are kept equal and the reaction was studied until the final concentration becomes constant. To analyze the data differential method is used. Graphs are drawn between time and concentration in both cases and analyzed. Overall conversion is more when agitation is provided as it increases the contact between the reactants and improves the rate of reaction. The order and rate constant values of this reaction are also compared for both cases. This reaction can also be carried out by changing the rpm of the magnetic stirrer when agitation is provided.
