Abstract

Arabic rhetorical sciences Ma’ani, Bayan and Badi’ are meant for achieving excellence in the world of the art of speaking and writing. They are designed to create a persuasive or impressive effect upon the listener and reader. Qur’an, to all experts of Arabic language whether ancient, classical, modern or post-modern is a perfect combination of letter, meaning, order and a lot more. The present article describes two important phenomenon of ‘Ilm al-Badi’: al-Rawai’ al-Lafziyyah, (splendor of words) and “alrawai’ al-ma’nawiyyah, (beauty of meanings) in Surah al Tur of the sublime Qur’an. Both these phenomenon are effective rhetorical devices used in literature to eloquently convey the indent of words and meanings. It is important to ponder upon the Qur’an more carefully in order to uncover even more fascinating secrets and beauties contained in God’s words for enabling man to imbibe from the limitless oceans of God’s knowledge to the extent of his own capacity.
