Abstract

Aqd-e-Anāmil means that the fingers should count on a particular basis. It was known in the Arabs that when there was a point to indicate a number they made a particular shape of fingers by their hands. This activity point out a specific counting method from the Holy Prophet (SAWW). The Holy Prophet (SAWW) used these figures in different Aḥādith like Ten, Ninety, Fifty three and Fifty nine etc. This method of counting on fingers is very useful to understand some specific Aḥādith and counting according to the method of Holy Prophet (). In this way, we can count up to 1 to 9999. On the right hand, units and decades are done, while left hands are counted on hundreds and thousands. Five fingers are named as Little Finger, Ring Finger, Middle Finger, Fore Finger and Thumb. The finger is formulated in a specific way for each figure. In this context, this method is helpful in understanding many Aḥādith. And you also have a reward for living a Sunnah.
