Abstract

The Qurānic exegesis, whose title is “Al-Maẓhari” of ʻAllāma Qāzī Thanāu-llah Pānīpatī, occupies very high importance and status among all those books we have on the Qurānic exegeses. ʻAllāma Qāzī Thanā-u-llah Pānīpatī has discussed all those arts and sciences which an exegetical writer needs while writing Qurānic exegesis. One of all those arts and sciences is “eloquence or rhetoric”. We while studying the underdiscussion exegesis, selected the art of rhetoric as our topic. We, being writing on terminology “Al-Tahakkum” and defining its literal and conventional meaning, revealed the al-Tahakkum in the light of Tafsīr Maẓharī and explained its rhetorical aim in the verses of the Holy Qurʼān and endorsed the stance of the Qāzī Pānīpatī by other books of Tafsīr and rhetorical styles. The article has been titled as “Al-Tahakkum-ul-Balāghī fī ‘Tafsīr Maẓhari’ lel ‘Allama Qazī Thanāullah Panīpatī” for the benefit and convenience of the readers.
