Abstract

UN was established for the peace and progress of the world in a better way than League of Nations. But UN could not resolve political, economic, environmental, and nuclear issues in the world. From 1945 to date, all such problems are alive; and 72 years of UN is just a story of exploitation of weaker states by resourceful states. How much time further is required by UN for the solution of the problems? This research is based on the analysis of authentic material in the form of literature. Institutional theory has been adopted as the framework of the study. Big Powers’ vested interest has been discussed in the paper. Through the conceptualization of data, the study arrived at the conclusion that UN would continue to fail to serve the purpose of its establishment; and would consistently remain a tool in the hands of governments of technologically advanced countries. Fundamental structural modifications are needed to correct the functioning of this organization.
