Abstract
This article deals with the important aspect in the discipline of principles of interpretation of the Holy Qur'an, it encompasses a theoretical study of the comparative interpretation and commentaries of the Holy Qur'an, which may be useful for the students of the said discipline in comprehensively understanding the message of Allah almighty, it is not possible for a single interpreter of the Holy Qur'an to discussed clarify all the possible aspects of the texts and the underling massage of Allah almighty, thus a student of this discipline need to study different commentaries comparatively for batter understanding and developing of a sound approach toward the text of the Holy Qur'an, so we have therefor tried to elaborate and clarify the theoretical concept of comparatively study of interpretation of the Holy Qur'an which will be helpful for the readers in journal and student in particular. In this article the meaning of the word “tafseer” has been technically explained and then the “comparative study of interpretations of the Holy Qur'an “has been discussed in detail in light of the opinions of learned scholars of the said discipline. This is followed by a comprehensive historical preview of the Comparative studies of the commentaries of the Holy Quran from the beginning of the codification of comparative methods and compilation of commentaries of the Holy Qur'an. Finally the methodologies adopted by different interpreter, in the field of comparative study of commentaries of the Holy Quran have been elaborated along with reference of those commentaries which represent a particular methodology for instants, some of the writers foxed on the analytical study of that commentaries while other foxed on the comparison of different method of the interpretation.
