Abstract

The Qur’an and Ahadis of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) are the most perfect models of the literature in Arabic language. There is not a single word or a sentence in the entire Qur’an or the Prophetic traditions is superfluous. It has presented all the themes in the most appropriate diction and suitable style. This research deals with a rhetorical study of the sayings of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated by Imam al-Bukhari in his famous book al-Jami al-Sahih. The topic, on which the research is presented, is a brief study of ”Al-uslub al-hakim” answering questions according to the intellect of the addressees, which is one of the different kinds of “departure from the anticipated syntactic structures”. The researchers have applied this rhetoric device on the magnum opus of Imam al-Bukhari and have cited copious examples from Prophetic traditions. This article comprises of definitions of “al-Uslob-ulhakim”, its examples from most famous book of Imam Bukhari “al-Jame al-Sahih”, and findings and conclusions are also given at the end.
