Abstract
In the social-political setup of the Punjab, biraderi1 or caste is believed to be the strongest adhesive identity force that is often selected in forming the groupings and loyalties of people with one another. This social identification taboo is ruling in an individual’s life due to social and economic insecurities thus he surrenders his free rationalised will especially in electoral politics. The objective of the study is to investigate through applying the theory of rational choice, what are the pecuniary dynamics of biraderi politics that empower the individuals or disempower them in using their free will? To what extent the pecuniary dynamics are the significant predictors of biraderi politics in order to create hindrance in the democratization process of the country. This is an empirical, descriptive and analytical study. In this context District Toba Tek Singh is to be selected for observation, with a minimum sample of 220 respondents (voters) to the set of questionnaire scale EDBPQ2.
