Abstract

The present study was aimed to observe the impact of in-service education and training on secondary school science teachers. The population comprised 2191 secondary school science teachers and 1509 head teachers working in districts of Southern Punjab. Sample comprised 724 trainees and 432 head teachers from randomly selected four districts Multan, Layyah, Khanewal and Lodhran. The questionnaires for secondary school science teachers and head teachers were developed that comprised thirty eight and twenty four items respectively. The data were analyzed by calculating frequencies, percentages and chi square as a test of significance. The major findings are: trainees participated for their professional growth, use of A.V. aids was the most important objective, training course enhanced teaching capability, got more perfection over the content and changes in the behaviour of trainees took place. Therefore it is recommended that INSET should be conducted by using modern methods of teaching at local or tehsil level.
