Abstract
While expressing special merits (fada’il) of parts of the Qur’an, it is considerably important and compulsory to quote from the valid narrations of the Prophet (SAW) as a proof, if found. That’s why commentrators of the Qur’an frequently present ahad┘th in their commentaries for proving their point. But it is also a fact that very little attention is given to checking the authenticity and validity of the ahadith mentioned in this regard; many fabricated, self-made and Israelite traditions are reported by some commentators in the name of Prophetic narrations. In this continuation a number of riwayat have been ascribed to the Prophet (SAW) in the merits of Surah Yasin. Imam Suyuti in his tafsir has quoted thirty two of them. The fact of the matter is that some of these tradtions are authentic while others are fabricated and baseless. The current paper presents the scholarly inquiry into these traditions and analyzes their validity in order to identify the fabricated and baseless from the sound and authentic.
